Recent Burglaries in Kennesaw, Acworth Area

image of suspect

There has been a rash of unusual break-ins in the Kennesaw/Acworth area in the past few days. The perpetrators have hit homes off of Pine Mountain, Stilesboro and Mac Dobbs Roads.

The method of entry is to rip the siding off of the back of the house, most likely to avoid any security system. The robbers take anything and everything of value, including kids electronics. One suspect (pictured above) was seen ringing a doorbell of a home in the Summer Stream subdivision off of Mac Dobbs Road. These crimes have been committed in broad daylight.

If you see any unusual activity,CALL POLICE IMMEDIATELY. Some of the things to look for are listed below:

  • Someone banging on a door or persistently ringing the doorbell.
  • Someone 'casing' houses in the neighborhood (walking through yards or looking behind homes).
  • Someone carrying or dragging duffel bags or suitcases through the neighborhood.
  • Someone carrying a duffel or suitcase, talking on a cell phone while walking down the street.
  • Strange cars parked near the entrance of the subdivision, or in the common area parking lot. (a small blue car, possibly a Ford Escort or Pinto, has been spotted around the time of at least one incident.)

These are just some of the things that have been observed recently, but if you see anything suspicious, call 911 immediately. IT IS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY! You will not get in trouble for calling 911 if the situation turns out to be something legitimate. The police are actively looking for these criminals, and are asking for the public's help.

Fortunately, Oakwind has been spared from these bold criminals so far. Please keep an eye on your neighbor's home. Also, don't do anything that might put yourself in danger. The best course of action is to call 911 as soon as possible, and warn your neighbors by telephone.
